SHREVEPORT – The Centenary women’s soccer teams spring season got off to a bang at the seven versus seven Louisiana-Monroe Tournament last weekend.

The Ladies hot start began against Southern, as they grabbed the 4-1 win to open the tournament. Clare Alvarado and Chelsea Cardwell found the back of the net in the first half, while Candace Rushing hit pay dirt in the second half to help secure the win.

Against Arkansas State, Centenary tacked on as many goals as it could. The Ladies defeated ASU, 6-2, as Stefani Robbs helped lead the Ladies with a hat trick, while Mitzi Perkins and Cardwell also added goals.

In the first round of tournament play, Centenary opened the game up with two goals, but the defense couldn’t hold the lead. The Ladies were defeated by Central Arkansas, 5-2, but Robbs and Kristine Weaver tried to help Centenary’s cause with goals in the first half.

“I thought we played well in our wins, but our defense is still was a bit rusty,” said head coach Chase Wooten. “This weekend we have another tough tournament when play at Louisiana Tech.”
