Ladies Finish in Upper Half at SHSU

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – After rain cut the first day short, the Centenary women’s golf team proved to have no ill effects from the weather. The Ladies (323-306, 629) finished in fifth and a mere 32 strokes behind co-host school Lamar, who finished first with a 597.

Senior Chloe Mims (74-77) led Centenary with a seventh place finish and was seven over after shooting a two-round total of 151. After chopping seven strokes off from her first round score, junior Jessica Garza (80-73) moved into a tie for 11th with final total of 153.

Tied for 33rd was junior Leigh Newton (82-80), who shot a 162, while classmate Tracy Williams (87-76) finished just a stroke behind with a 163. Rounding out the Ladies contingency was sophomore Brittany Blackwell (93-94), who completed the tournament in 60th after shooting a 187.

The next action for Centenary will be on April 6th at the Claude Jacobs Intercollegiate hosted by Texas State in Victoria, Texas.
