Ladies Finish Fourth at TWU

DENTON, Texas—The Centenary gymnastics team placed fourth in a quad meet hosted by Texas Woman’s University on Friday night. The meet featured some tough competition with Kentucky and Utah State participating, along with the Ladies and the host TWU Pioneers.


Kentucky won the meet with a score of 195.200, Texas Woman’s was second with a 194.200, Utah State took third at 193.900, and Centenary landed in fourth place with a score of 192.025.


With so many competitors participating in the quad meet, Centenary placed only two individuals in the top five on any event. Freshman Laura Loy gave her usual solid effort on the balance beam to place second with a score of 9.775. Senior Meredith Smith tied for fifth with a lofty score of 9.825 on the vault.


Julia Cornelius’ 9.675 was the best score of the evening for Centenary on the bars, placing the junior in 12th place, while Marissa Schneider’s 9.775 on the floor was also tops for the Ladies, landing the freshman in 12th place as well.


The Ladies will get right back at it as they host Kentucky in the Gold Dome on Sunday at 2 p.m.
