Improvement in Third Round Not Enough for Gents

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Centenary freshman Greg Berthelot (79-83-79, 241) led the Gents, but in the end it wasn’t enough as they finished in 15th place. Centenary (324-352- 342, 1018) completed the tournament 125 strokes behind Sam Houston State, who won the ULAR/First Tee Collegiate with an 893.


Berthelot finished in a tie for 57th place and was 22 strokes behind Gideon Pienaar of Central Arkansas, who won with a 219. Sophomore Mark Weeber (80-86-87) was tied for 73rd after shooting a three-round total of 253.


The freshmen tandem of Ryan Sparks and Diego Martin-Perez rounded out Centenary’s contingency, as Sparks (81-92-87, 260) ended play in 77th place, while Martin-Perez (84-91-89) finished in 79th after shooting 264.


The next action for the Gents will be on April 5-6 at the Centenary Invitational.
