ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary men’s tennis player Gerry Lozano was named The Summit League Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday. It is the first time the sophomore from Xalapa, Vercruz, Mexico, has won the award in his career.

Lozano earns the honor after winning his both singles match and his doubles contest against Grambling last week. At No. 4 singles, he defeated Darius Montgomery, 6-1, 6-1. He then teamed with Oscar Medellin at No. 2 doubles to shut out Montgomery and Jared Evans, 8-0. The pair of wins were vital in helping the Gents earn the 4-3 team victory over the Tigers.

Lozano and the rest of the Gents will be back in action on March 28th in Kansas City, Mo., for their first Summit League cluster of the season.
