ELMHURST, Ill. – After raising his average 120 points over the weekend, senior first baseman Cameron Penney received The Summit League Hitter of the Week award. Penney was batting .262 prior to the four-game series with Chicago State and he was able to bump his average to .382.

Penney was 10-for-13 at the plate with two doubles, four runs scored, five RBIs and two stolen bases this weekend. In the first game against Chicago State, Penney tied his career-high with four hits in a contest.

The Valley Center, Calif., native was also sound in the field, as he committed just one error in 34 chances.

“I’m glad Cameron received the Player of the Week honor,” said head coach Ed McCann. “Cam had a hot bat this weekend and he was one of the reasons we were able to get a sweep over Chicago State.”

Centenary will return to the field on Tuesday when it plays at Arkansas starting at 6 p.m.
