SHREVEPORT – The Centenary men’s soccer team and head coach David Orr have announced the signing of Ben Barcelona from Parkway High School. This is the second student-athlete the Gents have signed for 2008, joining Seth Prochaska -- both will be eligible to play in the fall.

Barcelona is a four-year letterwinner, he has also been named all-district three times, district MVP twice and was a three-time all-city winner. He also garnered second team all-state honors and was named captain of his prep team as a junior and senior.

Barcelona also set the Parkway record for goals (99) and he gave the ball off 56 times in his career. He also helped his team to the Louisiana State Finals in 2007 and the Shreveport Times named him all-area after that season.

“We are excited to have a player of Ben’s caliber,” said Orr. “It is equally exciting to have a player from the area joining our squad and he should help us out a lot up front this season.”

Off the field, Barcelona is a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club and Who’s Who Among High School Students.
