Gents in Middle of the Pack after Day One

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Led by freshman Greg Berthelot’s two-round score of 148, the Centenary men’s golf team is in fourth place at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate. The Gents are 21 strokes behind McNeese State, who leads with a 590.


Berthelot in the morning shot a 76, but bounced back nicely in the afternoon to shoot even par. Berthelot is currently tied for sixth with Ryan Falgout from Birmingham Southern and the two are 10 strokes behind Sigmundur Masson of McNeese State, who is shooting 138.


In the top 15 for Centenary are freshman Ryan Sparks (79-75) and junior John Hogan (76-78), who are tied for 12th after a day-one score of 154. Sophomore Mark Weeber is tied for 16th after shooting a 155 (78-77) after two-rounds.


Rounding out Centenary’s scoring is freshman Diego Martin-Perez, who is tied for 28th after completing round one and two with a 176 (83-93).


The Hal Sutton Intercollegiate will conclude on Tuesday at Stonebridge Golf Club with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
