Gents Finish Hal Sutton Intercollegiate in Third

BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Centenary men’s golf team finished with three in the top 15, which was good enough to place third at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate. The Gents (309-302-306, 917) finished 29 strokes behind Birmingham-Southern (298-294-296), who won with an 888.


Leading Centenary was freshman Greg Berthelot (76-72-74), who finished in seventh place after shooting a 222. Berthelot was just seven strokes behind the winner, Sigmundur Masson of McNeese State, who won with a 215.  


Also placing well for the Gents was Berthelot’s classmate Ryan Sparks (79-75-74), who completed his three-rounds in 10th place with a 228. After three-rounds, sophomore Mark Weeber (78-77-78) finished in a tie for 15th after shooting a 233.


Closing out Centenary’s group of five, was junior John Hogan and freshman Diego Martin-Perez, who were in 17th and 28th place respectively. Hogan (76-78-80) closed out the tournament with a 234, while Martin-Perez (83-93-87) completed his rounds with a 263.


The Gents next action will be at The Summit League Championships hosted by Western Illinois, beginning April 20.
