Sheehan Pitches Well in Gents Loss
Sunday, April 27, 2008

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Jeremy Sheehan gave the Centenary baseball team a quality start, but it wasn’t enough, as the Gents fell to IPFW, 3-2, on Sunday in Summit League play.

Centenary gave the Mastodons a 3-0 lead after they scored a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings. However, the Gents came back with two in the seventh to draw closer, but couldn’t score anymore after leaving the bases loaded in that same inning.

The boys from Shreveport had several chances to put the game away, as they had two runners on with no outs in the first and second but could not bring anybody home. Centenary left 11 on base on Sunday, while IPFW left just six on.

Leading the Gents was Jomar Tabor, Ricky Imperiali and Tim Deering, who had two hits. Knocking in the runs for Centenary was Imperiali and Cameron Penney, who now have 32 and 33 RBIs to lead the team.

For IPFW, Shaun VanDriessche and Chris Gottschall each had two hits, while Devin Taylor, Jared Davis and Garrett Segraves had the RBIs. Chad Nielsen got the win for the Mastodons, as he went 6.2 innings, gave up two runs, walked four and struck out four.

Centenary will next play North Dakota State in a four-game series starting on Friday at Shehee Stadium.
