SHREVEPORT – The Centenary tandem of Justin Kraft and Boone Whiting were again honored as Freshman All-Americans. Ping! Baseball has selected Kraft second team and Whiting third team All-America.

Kraft finished the year with a 9-5 record, a 3.48 ERA, three complete games and 85 innings of work. The Yakima, Wash., native also struck out a team-best 67 batters and his nine wins tied the school mark for victories in a season.

Whiting, meanwhile, led the Gents with a 1.92 ERA, and he tied the school record for saves in a season with five.

Midway through the season he moved into the starting rotation and threw two complete games and struck out 45, which was good for second on the team. The Summit League coaches also picked the Oakdale, Calif., native first team all-league.

“This is just awesome that these two were named to such another prestigious team,” said head coach Ed McCann. “Kraft and Boone, along with Dakota Robinson will be the face of our starting rotation for the next couple of years, and I can’t wait.”

This is the second All-American team the two have been selected for; Louisville Slugger picked the duo for their team last week. Kraft and Whiting were also the only two from The Summit League to be picked by Ping! Baseball.
