SHREVEPORT - The Centenary baseball team and head coach Ed McCann have announced the 2010 schedule. The season will get started with College World Series finalist LSU on Feb. 19 in Baton Rouge.

TULSA, Okla. - Senior Tim Deering and junior Travis Leversen each had three hits, but the Centenary baseball team left 11 men on base in the elimination game of The Summit League Championship against South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits defeated the Gents 7-3 in extra innings.

SHREVEPORT - After a tough first game the Centenary baseball team bounced back nicely in the nightcap to salvage a split with Oakland on Friday afternoon. In the first game the Gents fell 20-4 and in game two they held on for the 5-3 victory.

SHREVEPORT - The Centenary baseball team pounded out 25 hits and scored 14 runs in Friday nights Summit League doubleheader with Southern Utah. However, the Gents were swept by the Thunderbirds 11-4 in the first game and 14-10 in the night cap.

SHREVEPORT - Because of the heavy rains that fell on Shreveport Wednesday, the Centenary baseball team has postponed Thursday's game because of poor field conditions. The Gents and Thunderbirds will play a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday's game that is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. could change.

After just a few minutes on the phone with Ed McCann, it becomes exceedingly obvious that he has boundless energy, optimism and humor. Those are particularly useful qualities for a coach at Centenary, the nation's smallest Division I school with an enrollment of just around 800. Even after 13 years - 11 as head coach - McCann still maintains his field himself, from fertilizing to mowing. He said his legs are all chewed up right now from being on the back of the weed-eater.

One other significant upset: the Gentlemen have done it again. Centenary handed then-No. 1 Texas A&M its first loss of the season on Feb. 25, and yesterday the Gents upended their second ranked team of the season, beating Arkansas 8-3 behind a strong outing from Boone Whiting (7.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9K).

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The night looked promising for the Gents when senior shortstop Ricky Imperiali led off with a solo home run giving the Gents an early lead in their first at-bat of the season. Imperiali's home run would prove to be the Gents only score though, after a six-run first inning by the Aggies proved to be too much to overcome and the Gents fell to No. 1 Texas A&M 11-1 Tuesday night.

After successful 2007 postseason, 2008 looked even brighter for the Centenary baseball team, as it started the year 16-5. The Gents were nearly impossible to beat at home, going 22-8, which includes starting the season 16-1. Centenary also had its first 30-win season since 1992, completing the year at 30-26.

SHREVEPORT - Centenary head baseball coach Ed McCann and LSUS head coach Rocky Musgraves have joined forces in order to provide the ultimate high school instructional baseball league in Northwest Louisiana. Registration is now open for the 2008 Centenary College / LSUS Fall Baseball League, which gets under way on Sept. 6th.

SHREVEPORT - After signing a National Letter of Intent in November to play baseball at Centenary, pitcher Trevor Shull was selected by Tampa Bay in the 19th round of June's First-Year Player Draft. On Wednesday, Shull informed the Centenary coaches that he signed a contract to play for the Tampa Bay organization.
