Saturday, February 28, 2009

Huntsville TX - The Centenary College Gents lacrosse team came out firing on all cyllinders Saturday vs the Bearkats of Sam Houston State University.  The Gents came out with a balanced attack, getting 4 goals from four different players.  Ayo Kuku started the scoring streak with his first goal of his career, followed by  Michael Hiller, Rob Grand, and Alex Tanwho all added goals in the first quarter.

Unfortunately the Gents cooled off and found themselves down 7-5 at the half.  The 3rd quarter which has been a thorn in the side of the Gents all season reared its ugly head again and Sam Houston went on a 7-0 run the 3rd.  In the 4th with the game out of sight the Gents showed character and regrouped to tie the 4th at 3-3.  The Gents held their heads high even in the 17-8 loss.

Senior captain Adam Mastrodomenico lead the team with 3 points and Sophomore Goalie Daniel Ewingfinished the game with 18 saves.

The Gents are back in action tomorrow as they take on the nationally ranked Buccaneers of Southwestern Texas at 12pm.
