Gents Baseball Completes Double Header Sweep at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss.—The Centenary baseball team swept Jackson State in a Saturday afternoon double header. The Gents won game one 5-2 and topped the Tigers 3-2 in game two.


Game One


The Gents took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, and would lead the rest of the game. Leading the Gents at the plate was junior Michael Tompkins who went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Junior Tell Ross and red shirt freshman Jeff Schaffert also picked up RBIs on the day.


On the mound for the Gents was sophomore Justin Kraft, who pitched another complete game and picked up yet another win. For the Gents, Kraft allowed just two runs on five hits, while only walking one and fanning seven.


Game Two


The Gents remained tied through six innings before finally taking a permanent lead in the top of the seventh inning. The Gents were led by senior Ricky Imperiali who went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run and one RBI. Juniors Travis Leversen and Ryle Parks also picked up RBIs in the game.  


On the mound for the Gents was junior Dakota Robinson, who pitched eight innings allowing just two runs on five hits, while only walking one and striking out ten. Chris LaLonde and Stephen Tromblee combined to pitch the final inning in relief allowing no runs, no hits, while giving up no walks and striking out one.


The Gents will take the field again Tuesday night at 6 pm as they begin a two-game series against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
