Saturday, March 14, 2009

SHREVEPORT – Centenary (7-3) juniors Cliff Shepard and Travis Leversen led the offense, while a trio of pitchers handcuffed Nebraska Wesleyan’s sticks in the Gents’ 8-1 victory on Saturday evening.

Shepard had a season-high three hits, while Leversen knocked in two runs, which tied his high for the season. Three other Centenary hitters also picked up RBIs, as seniors Ricky Imperiali and Tim Deering drove in runs, while Shepard also plated a run.

On the bump, sophomore Justin Kraft won his third game of the year after throwing three innings of two hit baseball. Juniors Dakota Robinson and Stephen Tromblee pitched the last six innings and combined to allow just one run on five hits with two walks. Tromblee also earned his first save of the year, while Robinson fanned seven.

The Gents will be back on the field Tuesday for a home doubleheader against Texas College beginning at 4 p.m.
