Seven Straight Days of Home Events

SHREVEPORT – Starting Tuesday the Centenary baseball and softball teams will combine to have a seven-day homestand. The Gents start the week long marathon off with a doubleheader against Texas College at 4 p.m., while the Ladies host Tulsa Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.




The Gents will play six home games during the next seven days, with the weekend being capped off against Harvard in a four game series. Centenary goes into the upcoming week fresh off of wins over No. 18 Arkansas (8-3) and Nebraska Wesleyan (8-1).


Senior Ricky Imperiali, who has started all 10 games for the Gents is batting .382 with a team-best two home runs. The starting pitching for Centenary has been nothing short of outstanding, as the four aces struck out 83 batters and have a 3.95 ERA in 66 innings of work.


Texas College will come into the doubleheader 6-20 having dropped five straight games. The Steers are led by Andrew Kuhn, who has hit a team-high five home runs with 22 runs knocked in.


Harvard is 1-7 this year and dropped four straight to Alabama-Birmingham over the weekend. The series with Centenary will begin a six day trip through the Pelican State with the conclusion at the University of New Orleans on March 26.




The Ladies will begin their week with a single game against Tulsa and finish it with a three-game Summit League series against UMKC on Monday and Tuesday. Centenary will also host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday for one game.


On Saturday, sophomore Jessica Bock tossed the Ladies’ second no-hitter of the season and was named conference Pitcher of the Week. For the season, Bock has logged 96 innings, recorded 10 wins and has fanned 69.


The Golden Hurricane are 15-6 this season and lost their last time out to Oklahoma State 3-0. Tulsa will also play three games before arriving in Shreveport, as it played Houston in double header on Monday and then Louisiana-Lafayette for a single game on Tuesday.


The Islanders, meanwhile, come into the contest on Thursday 10-18, but have won three in a row. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi plays Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe before finishing its I-20 trip on Kings Highway.
