Gents Pile on the Offense

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary (9-3) baseball team scored 40 runs against Texas College (6-22) in two games on Tuesday evening. The Gents were victorious in game one 17-5 and took the night cap by a score of 23-1.

 

Game One

 

Senior Jomar Tabor knocked in career-high five RBIs, while junior Michael Tompkins also had a good day at the dish by platting three runs. Tabor and Tompkins also combined to go 5-for-7 with four runs scored.

 

Senior Joe Hagen (1-0) started the game and got the win by pitching five innings and allowing just one earned run. Tompkins pulled double duty in the early game, as he threw two innings and struck out four. 

 

Game Two

 

Centenary scored 18 runs in the first three innings and was led offensively by junior Tell Ross and freshman Morgan Brian, who each had five RBIs. Senior Steele Lewis, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while scoring four times.

 

Freshman Jacob Lugo (1-1) picked-up his first collegiate win after pitching five innings and giving up just one run. Sophomore Derek Dalzell finished the game, and in his two innings of work he fanned three and allowed three base runners.

 

The Gents will now get ready for their four game series with Harvard beginning on Friday evening at 6 p.m. Sophomore Boone Whiting is expected to take the hill for Centenary in the opener.
