Ladies Take Fourth at MIC Championships

NORMAL, Ill.—The Centenary women’s gymnastics team finished fourth in the Midwest Intercollegiate Conference Championship hosted by Illinois State University on Saturday. The Ladies posted a team score of 191.300, while Southeast Missouri took first place with an effort of 193.825.

Coming in second with a score of 192.775 was Illinois State, followed by Texas Women’s with a total of 192.725. Rounding out the field was Illinois-Chicago in fifth with a final score of 190.975.

Individually on the vault for Centenary, Marisa Schneider and Whitney Daugherty finished with scores of 9.675 and 9.625, to take 13th and 16th place respectively. On the bars, Alyssa Zawieja placed 8th and Schneider finished in 11th, both topping the Ladies with a score of 9.725.

Zawieja was Centenary’s top individual medalist, placing third on the beam with a final score of 9.750, while teammate Julia Cornelius finished in seventh with a 9.700. Schneider landed the Ladies highest score on the floor with a 9.700.

In the all-around competition, Schneider was Centenary’s top performer on the day with a score of 38.475, landing her a fifth place finish. Leading the all-around was Sandra Blake of SEMO with a 39.175.
