Gents Take 3-of-4 From Harvard

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary baseball team had two six-run innings in the 16-4 victory over Harvard (2-10) on Sunday afternoon.


On offense junior Tell Ross and freshman Jeff Schaffert each went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while seniors Jomar Tabor and Tim Deering also knocked in three. Ross and Deering had two of their RBIs in the Gents’ six-run third, while Schaffert had two in the eight inning after a double to left.


Getting the start on the hill for Centenary (12-4) was senior Joe Hagen, who pitched three innings and allowed two runs. Sophomore Boone Whiting, meanwhile, got his second victory of the year after pitching five innings in relief. Whiting on the day scattered seven hits and gave up two runs, while striking out three.


The Gents will have another busy week beginning on Tuesday when they travel to I-49 rival Northwestern State for a 6:30 p.m. start. Centenary will then return home for a four-game series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff starting on Friday.
