Adams and Stallings Named Honorable Mention LSWA

SHREVEPORT – Junior Chase Adams and senior Nick Stallings were named honorable mention all-LSWA by selected members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association on Sunday.


Stallings, who earlier this year was named to the Summit League honorable mention squad averaged a team leading 15.3 points per game, while he also pulled down 189 rebounds, gave 66 assists and had 49 steals.


Seven times during the 2008-09 season the New Orleans, La., native scored over 20 points, which includes a season-best 31 points against Troy. Stallings is also the 21st leading scorer all-time at Centenary with 1,231 points.


Adams, who took home the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award in March after he had a conference-high 83 steals. During the past season Adams was 11th in the conference in scoring, third in assists, first in steals and second in assists to turnover ratio.       


The Baltimore, Md., native was also second on the team in scoring with 453 points and he will break into the 1,000 point club early next season. This past season he scored over 20 points eight times including a season-high 26 points against North Dakota State in the conference tournament.


The LSWA named Marcus Thornton of LSU its Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year went to Fred Hunter of Nicholls State, while Mike Pilgrim (LSUS) and Malcolm Thomas (ULM) took home Newcomer of the Year and Trent Johnson was named Coach of the Year.
