SHREVEPORT – After a three-game conference road trip to Western Illinois over the weekend, the Centenary baseball team will return home on Tuesday to host I-20 rival Grambling State at 6 p.m.

The Gents swept WIU in a shortened series, as freshman Jeff Schaffert led the way offensively. The Midland, Mich., native batted .500 with a double and five RBIs, with his two bagger knocking in the game-winning runs during game one on Sunday.

The pitching for Centenary was also dominate, as sophomores Justin Kraft and Boone Whiting each went the distance. The duo combined to allow just 14 hits, three runs, three walks, while fanning 17.

GSU comes into the midweek game having dropped 10-of-12, with its two wins against Texas Southern over the weekend. The Tigers and Gents just met over two weeks ago, as Centenary came away with the 12-5 victory at Grambling.

Offensively for GSU, Steve Kletke leads the way with .341 average, while Mike Roby, who is hitting .298 has put six over the fence to top the Tigers. The GSU pitching staff has struggled this season, as it has 10.63 ERA and has allowed 362 runs.

After the game against GSU, Centenary will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to play Oral Roberts beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
