Ladies Swept By Bison In Double Dip

FARGO, N.D.  – It was a tough day for the Centenary softball team, as the Ladies dropped both conference games to North Dakota State on Friday afternoon, by scores of 2-0 and 7-3.

Game one

Junior Haley Bassett and freshman Kalyn Harris each had two hits, but the Ladies offense couldn’t get going. NDSU scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings to give the Bison enough tallies to get the victory.

In the circle sophomore Jessica Bock pitched a complete game seven hitter, but allowed the two runs, while only one was earned. Her counterpart Andi Padilla threw a five hit shutout, but walked three.

Game two

Senior Allison McClain and sophomore Caitlin Cavarra each knocked in a run, but the scoring came a little too late for Centenary. The Bison (32-16, 19-3) put the game out of reach in the third with a four spot.

In the nightcap Centenary (31-21, 12-9) was playing out the services of junior Allison Shepperd, senior Emerald Doria and sophomore Bonnie Matak, who had various injuries. Both Shepperd and Doria left in the first game, while Matak was hurt during her at-bat in the second contest.

Even with the two losses on Friday evening, the Centenary softball team still claimed a spot in The Summit League Tournament next weekend. The Ladies and Bison will conclude the three-game series on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
