Thursday, July 31, 2008

SHREVEPORT – After spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Northwestern State women’s basketball team, Kristen Davis has been named to Centenary head coach Steve Curtis’ staff.

Davis earned her masters degree in sports administration, while helping with recruiting, film exchange, travel, academic progress of the Lady Demons and scouting. She also coordinated the NSU girl’s basketball camps over the past two summers.

Prior to stepping into the coaching role, Davis played for the Lady Demons and helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament in 2004. She was also part of the team that recorded its 600th all-time win, which is just the 37th school in NCAA history to accomplish such a feat.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Centenary women’s basketball family,” said Davis. “Coach Curtis has the program going in the right direction and I think I am going to be a part of something special.”

Davis’ responsibilities with the Ladies will include coaching the guards, team travel, recruiting, scouting and day-to-day operations.
