ELMHURST, Ill.—The Summit League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) concluded its fourth annual in-person SAAC meeting in Chicago last weekend. Centenary swimmer Bryan Myers and soccer player Kristine Weaver were two of the 18 student-athletes from nine of the league’s 10 member institutions that discussed what they can do to increase game attendance on their respective campuses. The group also exchanged ideas for improving their campus SAACs and reviewed legislation issues on the national level.

The committee also participated in a community service outing with Chicago Youth Programs, a non-profit organization designed to improve the life opportunities and health of at-risk youth. The Summit League SAAC put on a mini-sports camp for 20 children from the south side of Chicago. The student-athletes taught the kids some of the fundamentals of soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track.

Commissioner Tom Douple addressed the group regarding The Summit Plan, the league’s improvement plan, and discussed the importance of the student-athletes getting involved in their communities.
