Centenary and LSUS Combine to Host Fall Baseball League
Friday, August 8, 2008

SHREVEPORT—Centenary head baseball coach Ed McCann and LSUS head coach Rocky Musgraves have joined forces in order to provide the ultimate high school instructional baseball league in Northwest Louisiana. Registration is now open for the 2008 Centenary College / LSUS Fall Baseball League, which gets under way on Sept. 6th.

High school players from all parts of the region are invited to attend the Fall Baseball League that runs from Sept. 6th to Oct. 18th. An instructional clinic along with individual player testing will occur on the first weekend and games and hitting schools will start on Sept. 13th.

All clinics, camps, hitting schools, and games will be supervised by current or former Centenary and LSUS coaches and players, as well as area high school coaches. Locations include Centenary’s Shehee Stadium, LSUS’ Pilots Field, and the Byrd High School Baseball Field.

“We have gotten together with LSUS and Coach Musgraves to help promote baseball and expose the talent level in Northwest Louisiana to other colleges and universities,” said McCann. “This experience will not only enhance their playing abilities on the field, but will also educate and inform players of opportunities that exist out there for them.”

“I think it is great that Centenary and LSUS are joining together,” said Musgraves. “There is a real need for both of us to be more active in the local baseball community. This allows us to see more local players and those players get an opportunity to enhance their individual game while learning more about the Centenary and LSUS programs.”

The cost for this invaluable learning experience and exposure is $200 per player. In addition to the instructional benefits, players will also receive a hat, a t-shirt, a guaranteed 10 games, a season-ending tournament, and an individualized evaluation sheet from the staff.
