Gents Soccer Chosen 6th in Conference Preseason Poll
Friday, August 15, 2008

ELMHURST, Ill. -- Despite missing The Summit League Tournament by just one win in 2007, the Centenary (9 points) men’s soccer team was picked 6th in the conference preseason poll. The Gents return 12 from last season, which includes Josh Gomillion, who was named to the conference’s all-newcomer team.

The coaches selected Oakland (35 points) first after it won 12 matches and its first round contest in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. IUPUI (26 points), meanwhile, was picked second and Oral Roberts (25 points) third.

However, UMKC was not far behind the Golden Eagles, as the Kangaroos received one first place vote and 23 total points. Western Illinois (21 points) was picked to finish fifth, while IPFW (8 points) rounds out the poll in seventh place.

The Gents will begin their 2008 season on Saturday, Aug. 23, when they host Harding in an exhibition game starting at noon.
