SHREVEPORT – After being named to The Summit League’s All-Newcomer Team in the fall, sophomore Josh Gomillion spent his summer winning a gold medal on his U19 Soccer Club Team.

The Dallas Solar were victorious over all three of its opponents this summer in the national tournament. In their first game the Solar defeated the Colorado Rush, 4-3. In the second game Dallas blanked the Free State United, 4-0. However, the Solar did have one hick-up along the way, as they tied the Kansas City Wizards’ club team, 1-1.

After those two victories the Solar had enough points to make the national championship game in Little Rock, Ark. In the championship, the match was tied at zero until the 89th minute when the lone goal was scored on a free kick.

“I had a lot fun this summer going to the tournament,” Gomillion said. “This will be one of these things that I tell my kids and grandkids about. Not a lot of people get to experience winning national championship.”

Overall for the tournament, Gomillion did not score a goal, but he did give two assists
