SHREVEPORT – After playing two straight road matches to open the season, the Centenary women’s soccer team will begin a three-match homestand on Friday against Arkansas State at 7 p.m. and continuing it on Sunday hosting Arkansas-Little at 1 p.m. The homestand will conclude on Tuesday when Louisiana-Monroe travels west on I-20 for a 7 p.m. kick-off.

The Ladies come into the contest 1-1, after dropping a 1-0 nail bitter to Stephen F. Austin last Friday.

Centenary is led by freshman keeper Deb Hill, who has made 19 saves and allowed just one goal. The Lafayette, La., native also captured conference player of the week honors after shutting out Mississippi Valley State on Aug. 24.

The Ladies offense, meanwhile, is led by freshmen Katie Valdez and Chelsea Granger, who have each scored a goal. Valdez and sophomore Candace Rushing also lead the team with five shots.

Early in 2008, Arkansas State is 2-0 after pounding Central Arkansas, 5-2, and Arkansas Pine Bluff, 7-0.

Nine of the Red Wolves 12 goals have been scored by Kara Nitti, Sofia Turesson and Kailey Gear. Gear and Turesson each had a hattrick this season, as Gear scored hers against Central Arkansas and Turesson put three in the net against UAPB.

Arkansas-Little Rock this season is 1-3, with its lone win coming over Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. The Trojans have been shutout three times in 2008, dropping matches to Memphis, Missouri State and Southern Miss.

Leading UALR is Grace Rich and Jessica Beaver, who have scored a goal each, and have also combined for five points. The Trojans defense is anchored by Jane Picarelli, who has 24 saves, but has allowed six goals.
