Gents Baseball Continues Support of Community

SHREVEPORT -- On Sunday and Monday of this week the Centenary baseball team helped host and answer telephones for the local Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. The Gents raised more money than ever before in the Bossier City/Shreveport area.

All 26 members of the Centenary baseball team and Channel 6 KTAL took donations from the community during the two-day event at the Bossier City Bass Pro Shop. This was the fourth year the two programs met and helped raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.

The Gents are also helping out at the annual Centenary Book Bazaar, by setting up and taking down tables and chairs. The Gentlemen can also be found driving around the parking lot in golf carts assisting the people who have problems getting around.

“The Shreveport/Bossier area is just a fantastic place, and I love doing whatever I can for the two cities,” said head coach Ed McCann. “This also shows my team that there are greater things out there than just baseball.”

The Centenary baseball team will visit the children of Shriners Hospital twice during the fall semester. The Gents will work with the kids with arts and crafts and also bring a smile to their face around Christmas when Santa Claus makes his yearly stop.
