Another Heartbreaker for the Ladies
Sunday, September 7, 2008

SHREVEPORT – Junior Kristine Weaver had her first goal of the season on Sunday afternoon, but it just wasn’t enough, as the Centenary women’s soccer team fell to Arkansas-Little Rock 2-1.

UALR came out of the gate and attacked the Ladies defense, as it got 13 shots off during the first 45 minutes. Freshman Deb Hill was on her game, making six saves in the first half, while giving up just one goal in the 13th minute.

Offensively, Weaver led Centenary with three shots, while freshmen Katie Valdez and Ashley Dolezel had two. Weaver’s goal came in the 38th minute, as she fired from 20 yards to even the match at one. The goal was Weaver's second of her career, the first came against Grambling last season.

The Ladies slowed down UALR’s attack in the second half, holding the Trojans to 10 shots, while Centenary had seven. However, the dagger to the heart came at 53:26 when Grace Rich’s shot beat a diving junior Kate Donnelly to the lower 90.

Centenary will be back on Mayo Field Tuesday when Louisiana-Monroe travels down I-20 for a 7 p.m. kick-off. This will be the 10th meeting between the two schools.
