Tigers Best Ladies on Sunday

BATON ROUGE, La. – Hurricane Ike was still showing his ugly head on Sunday afternoon, but Centenary and the No. 12 ranked LSU women’s soccer teams battled through on and off rain showers. However, in the end the Tigers came out on top, 7-0, at the LSU Soccer Complex.

Centenary hung tough with the 12th best team in the nation early, but at 18:29 the Tigers scored their first of four first half goals. The Ladies could not pressure LSU’s pesky defense, as their best chances were stopped before they ever developed.

The Ladies best opportunity to score came midway through the second 45 minutes when freshman Ashley Dolezel got inside 20 yards, but LSU stopped the attack. The Tigers added three more goals in the period to put the game out of reach for Centenary.

The Ladies will be back in action on Friday when they travel down to Northwestern State for a 7 p.m. start. Centenary will also play its make-up at Texas State on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
