Ladies Fight Hard, Fall to Western 3-1

MACOMB, Ill.—The Centenary volleyball team closed out is conference-opening weekend with a 3-1 loss (25-18, 25-27, 25-17, 25-15) to Western Illinois on the road Saturday night. The Ladies collected more kills than the Westerwinds, but unfortunately, also committed more hitting and service errors in the match.


Centenary (2-11, 0-2 Summit) had 55 kills in the contest and hit at a .188 percentage. Western Illinois (5-8, 1-0 Summit) hit at a .201 clip with 51 kills.


Several Ladies enjoyed a solid evening on the court, starting with setter Caitlin Neese, who tallied 51 assists. Bethany Kern had 13 kills to go with 21 digs, while Brianna Kern added 16 kills. Kayla Tibaldo finished with 18 digs, Kinsey Mims and Ashlee Freeman each had nine kills, and Melissa Reed chipped in seven kills and 11 digs.


Monique Houston had 14 kills to pace Western Illinois.


The Ladies finally return to Shreveport to host their home-opener on Friday, Sept. 26th after 13 matches on the road. Centenary will host IPFW at 7 p.m. in Summit League action.
