Sunday, September 28, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS -- After playing nearly 90 minutes without anybody scoring, a goal at 84:50 by Perez Agaba proved to be the difference, as the Centenary men's soccer team fell to IUPUI, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Both the Gents (2-5, 0-1) and Jaguars (4-3-2, 1-0) offense played an even battle, but IUPUI had a slight edge in shots, 15-9. Leading Centenary's offense were juniors Mo Assi and Sammy Robinson, as the duo combined for five shots.  Robinson had two shots on the afternoon, both of which were saved by Tyler Keever, who had three stops total. Keever's counterpart, sophomore Rennie Walker had 11 saves before allowing his late goal.

"Today's game was a competitive Summit League battle," said head coach David Orr. "The game was back and forth between the 18's. This conference is very tight and if you make one mistake the other teams in this league will make you pay for it. We have to learn how to make the other teams pay for their mistakes."

The next action for Centenary will be on Friday when the Gents host IPFW starting at 7 p.m. Following the action on Friday, Centenary will host Central Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
