Missed Opportunities Cost Gents

SHREVEPORT – Shots were going towards the goal for the Centenary men’s soccer team, but only one would hit the back of the net in Sunday afternoons, 1-1, tie with Central Arkansas.

The Gents had several missed opportunities, as they had 20 shots on the afternoon, nine of which were saved by UCA keeper Greg Brooks.

Leading Centenary’s offense was sophomore Brian Hurlburt, who had three shots on goal. Freshman Tate McIntyre, meanwhile, had the Gents lone goal when he shot the ball to the upper 90, after receiving the pass from junior Todd Faulkinberry.

The defense played well on the afternoon, allowing the Bears only goal midway through the first period on a corner kick. Gents goal keeper Rennie Walker had to make just two saves, as UCA only had seven shots total.

Up next for Centenary will be a trip to Summit League foe Oakland on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m.
