SHREVEPORT—The Centenary gymnastics team again participated in what has become a yearly event for the Ladies, as they ran in the 2008 Shreveport-Bossier 5K Race for the Cure on Saturday, Sept. 20. Running in bright pink tank tops, the Ladies helped raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

Although the event is fun and for a good cause, the gymnasts showed their competitive side by giving it their all, as Julia Cornelius and Andie Moore were the Ladies top two finishers.

Also participating in the race was Mandy Bennett, Lauren Carlton, Whitney Daugherty, Courtney Hawkins, Melody Smith, Stephanie Wright, Makensie Lant, Laura Loy, Tamara Mayer, Tara Sandoval, Marisa Schneider, Kameron Turner, Maille Vetros and Alyssa Zawieja for Centenary.

“My girls love doing the Race for the Cure and they show their competitive sprit during the run,” said gymnastics coach Bill Hardy. “This also shows that we care a lot about the community and we want to reach out anytime we can.”

The Ladies are ready for another great season with the year kicking off on Friday, Jan. 16, at the University of Alaska – Anchorage.
