Ladies Golf Places 15th at ORU Shootout

Tulsa, Okla.  -- In the final round of the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout, the Centenary (323-333-324, 980) women’s golf team shaved nine strokes off their second round score, but finished tied with North Dakota State for 15th place and 67 strokes behind first place Oral Roberts, who shot 913.

 

Leading the Ladies was senior Jessica Garza (76-87-78, 241), who finished in a tie for 39th, which was 22 behind tournament leader, Christy Carter (73-70-76, 219) of ORU. Garza was able to finish strong, cutting nine strokes off her second round score to edge junior teammate Jessica Marquart by six strokes.

 

Marquart (82-82-83) completed the final round tied for 58th with 247, while senior Tracy Williams (86-81-81) finished one stroke behind her at 248, tying for 63rd.Rounding out the remaining golfers for Centenary were seniors Leigh Newton (88-83-82, 253) and Bethany Cox (79-88-92, 259) who placed 77th and 84th, respectively.

 

The Ladies will resume tournament play on October 13-14 in Jonesboro, Arkansas hosted by Arkansas State University.
