SHREVEPORT – After a pair of nonconference wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi Valley State, the Centenary volleyball team will return to Summit League action when it hosts Oakland on Friday at 7 p.m. and Oral Roberts on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Ladies are led by freshman Brianna Kern, who has 131 kills and 144 points, while her classmate Jennifer Kunze follows with 93 kills. Meanwhile, freshman setter Jaclyn Lopez has 321 assists through 17 matches and is just 228 away from breaking into the top 10 all-time at Centenary.

Against Oakland, Centenary will be looking for its first three-match winning streak since 2006, when the Ladies defeated Alcorn State, Southern and Chicago State.

The Golden Grizzlies come into Friday evening’s action having dropped 11-of-12, with their win coming at UMKC on Sept. 27. Oakland’s offense is led by Adrienne Leone, who has 146 kills, while Katy Wilson and Samantha Filipek have 294 and 224 assists respectively.

In midweek action, ORU lost to Tulsa on Tuesday, but swept Oakland, IPFW, IUPUI and Western Illinois in their last four conference matches. The Golden Eagles are led by Joanita Souza, who has 167 kills and has scored 207 points. Like Oakland, ORU uses two setters, as Thais Parada and Juliane Vieira have 361 and 242 assists each.

Centenary will conclude its season long five match homestand on Tuesday when Louisiana Tech comes to town for a 7 p.m. start.
