Saturday, October 18, 2008

FARGO, N.D. – Jennifer Kunze and Ashlee Freshman each had five kills to top the Centenary volleyball teams offensive efforts on Saturday. However, in the end it wasn’t enough for the Ladies, as they fell to North Dakota State in straight sets in Summit League action (9-25, 11-25, 8-25).

To open the first set, NDSU scored nine straight points before Kristen Hille netted the ball to give Centenary the point. As a team, the Ladies had five kills and were led by Kunze, who had two.

Brianna Kern gave Centenary’s first point off of a set from Jaclyn Lopez early in the second game. However, a 6-1 run pushed the Bison’s lead up to 8-2, until a Christian Golden kill ended the run.

Centenary opened the third set with a 2-1 lead, and the game continued to be close, but a 7-0 run gave NDSU the lead for good. The Ladies had seven kills in the final set and were led by Freeman, who had two of them.

The Ladies will have two home matches next weekend when they host UMKC on Saturday and IUPUI Sunday.
