Ladies in 10th After Round One

Bay St. Louis, Miss.—After a tough round one on Monday at Nicholls State LDR Investments Intercollegiate, the Centenary women’s golf team sits in 10th place with a team score of 339. The Ladies are 41 strokes behind first round leader Sam Houston State with 298.


Leading the Ladies is junior Jessica Marquart, who shot a first round score of 79, and is just seven strokes over par standing tied for 26th. Behind her is senior Bethany Cox, who is tied for 38th with an 18-hole score of 83.


Rounding out the rest of the squad from Centenary is senior Jessica Garza, who completed her 18 holes in a tie for 49th after shooting a score of 87. Senior Tracy Williams is in 54th place with a 90, and senior Leigh Newton is right behind her teammate in 55th with an opening round of 91.


Three golfers from three different schools sit in first with a round of 73, just one over par for the day. Helping their teams after in the first round are Amanda Carmona of Sam Houston State, Maggie Welch of McNeese State, and Therese Nilsson of Lamar, who each shot one better than McNeese State’s Jennifer Herrmann, who is in fourth.
