Lauren Cheaney Named Third All-Academic

SHREVEPORT – The College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine have named Centenary junior Lauren Cheaney Third Team Academic All-Region VI.

Cheaney is from Shreveport, La., and has a 3.87 GPA as a neuroscience major. She has started all 16 matches this season for the Ladies and has accumulated eight shots. For her career, Cheaney has scored a goal and has given off one assist.

“It’s a great honor and always nice to be recognized. Lauren has put a ton of work into the classroom her entire collegiate career,” said head coach Chase Wooten. “She also is mainstay us for us on the field, she leads by example, is the captain and we are very proud of her.”


Joining Cheaney from The Summit League is Kellyn Farrell, Chelsea Goosen, Erin Kasmarik and Kelly Larson from South Dakota State, while Oakland’s Jessica Boyle, IUPUI’s Katrina McCrory and Western IllinoisKim Schuneman were also named to the all-academic team.
