Zac Farrar Named First Team All-Academic

SHREVEPORT – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine have named Centenary sophomore Zac Farrar First Team Academic All-District VI.


Farrar, a midfielder, holds a 3.78 GPA as a finance and spanish double major at Centenary.  The Fort Worth, Texas, native has seen action in all 12 games for the Gents this season.  He has recorded seven total shots on the season, three of which were on net.


“Zac is a team captain and an exceptional student-athlete, who sets a great example to his team,” said head coach David Orr. “Gents soccer has a philosophy regarding success: We believe that success in the classroom will transfer onto the playing field. Zac definitely exemplifies our philosophy. Congratulations to Mr. Farrar on this exceptional recognition.”


To be nominated for the Academic All-Region ballot, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution.  Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the nomination form. 


Joining Farrar on the CoSIDA/ESPN All-Academic team from The Summit League is Garret Guthrie, Matt Kopsky and Brian Harris of UMKC, Eric Weigman of IUPUI and Stew Givens from Oakland.
