ELMHURST, Ill. – After scoring three goals and dishing off two assists, Centenary freshman John McHugh was named to The Summit League second and all-newcomer teams, as voted by the conference coaches.

The Keller, Texas, native played and started in 13 games, but sat out of the last match due to yellow card infractions. Against Bowling Green, McHugh scored a career-high two goals and in his last two matches he gave an assist in each contest.

“He is one of the most dynamic attacking players I have ever coached,” said head coach David Orr. He is quiet guy on and off the field, but he still has a ton of confidence and his teammates have faith in him.”

The Summit League’s regular season champion and top seed in the tournament, Oakland, led the conference with nine selections to the men’s soccer all-league team. UMKC, Oral Roberts and Western Illinois each had five student-athletes receiving honors, while IUPUI had three and IPFW placed a pair on the teams.
