New Gold Dome Welcomes Ladies

SHREVEPORT – A new court, bleachers and weight room will welcome the Centenary women’s basketball team on Tuesday, as the Ladies host I-20 rival Louisiana-Monroe for a 7 p.m. tip-off.


When Centenary opened the season Friday, the Ladies battled Alabama to the very end. Centenary had a chance to tie the game with just over two and a half minutes remaining, but senior Karolina Zaloga’s 3-point field goal rimmed out and the Crimson Tide held on for the 9-point win.


Freshman Chelsea Johnson led the team with 12 points, while Anne Farrell followed with 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior Cierra Bush played her first game in nearly a year, and she scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in 11 minutes.


In their game against Arkansas Saturday, ULM scored 19 points in each half and hit just 15 field goals on Saturday, losing 77-38. ULM had 24 turnovers and shot just 22 percent, while the Razorbacks racked up 14 steals and was red hot from the field, shooting 44 percent.


Leading the way for ULM was Sumar Leslie, who had eight points, while Elizabeth Torres chipped in seven points. All-conference honoree Lottie Moore was 1-of-9 from the field and scored just four points, but pulled down 10 rebounds.


Tuesday night’s game can be heard on 91.3 KSCL and Following Tuesday night’s game, Centenary will travel to Sam Houston State on Friday and then Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday.
