SHREVEPORT—After a week off from play, the Centenary men’s basketball team will face I-20 rival Louisiana Tech in the CenturyTel Center on Saturday with a 7 p.m. tip off. This will be the first game the Gents play in front of a home crowd this season.

Centenary (2-8, 0-2 Summit) has been on the road for its first 10 games this season and is looking for a win over Louisiana Tech (4-4) in front of a crowd of maroon and white. The “road warriors” are coming off of two Summit League losses to SDSU and NDSU, where guards Nick Stallings and Chase Adams controlled the tempo.

In the Gents’ game against NDSU last Saturday, Stallings led with 11 points, while Adams scored 10 points, pulled down a team-high five rebounds, added six assists and five steals to the mix.

The Gents and Bulldogs have met 125 times in the past and Centenary holds the all-time record of 69 wins to 56 losses. In its last meeting in 2007, Centenary handed Louisiana Tech a 62-50 loss in the CenturyTel Center.

Centenary will look to its guard play and speed to take advantage of Louisiana Tech’s height and inside game. As a team, the Gents are averaging 61.8 ppg and pulling down 31.1 rebounds per game, while leading the Summit League in steals with 8.8 per game.

Stallings continues to pace the Gents with 15.6 ppg and 6.6 rebounds per contest. Behind him is teammate Adams averaging 14.6 ppg and pulling down five rebounds per game, while remaining atop the Summit League in steals with 2.7 per game.

Louisiana Tech (4-4) comes into this game having handed Louisiana-Monroe a 69-57 loss on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs were led in that game by Magnum Rolle with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Kyle Gibson and Kenneth Cooper added 16 and 13 in the win.

As a team, five Bulldogs average in double figures for the season led by Gibson with 15.4 ppg and Cooper with 14.0 ppg. Jamel Guyton and Rolle are bringing 11.9 ppg and 11.4 ppg, respectively to the Tech offense, while Cooper is pulling down a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game.
