ELMHURST, Ill. – Sophomore Ashley Jackson was named Summit League Co-Player of the Week with South Dakota State’s Maria Boever. It is the first time since the 2006-07 season a Centenary women’s basketball student-athlete has been given the conference’s weekly award.

Against McNeese State on Monday, Jackson scored and pulled down a career-high 21 points and 12 rebounds earning her second career double-double. Against the Cowgirls, the Shreveport, La., native was 6-of-10 from the field and was 9-for-12 from the free throw line.

“I am excited about Ashley’s progress and I think this is the beginning of good things for her and our team,” said head coach Steve Curtis. “As our team continues to improve we will get more individual awards.”

The last Lady to garner weekly honors was Cierra Bush, who won the award on Jan. 3, 2007, after scoring 18 points and pulling down seven rebounds in the 75-59 win over McNeese State.

Centenary will return to the floor on Saturday when it travels to Oral Roberts for a 2:05 p.m. tip-off.
