SHREVEPORT – Sophomore Ashley Jackson scored 15 points, while classmate Anne Farrell added 15 points and 13 rebounds in the Centenary women’s basketball teams, 73-51, victory over IPFW on Saturday afternoon in Summit League play.

It was a slow start for Centenary, but the offense picked up and the defense shut the door on IPFW’s 3-point shooting. The Ladies scored just four points in the games first four minutes, but held the Mastodons to 0-of-4 from outside.

Late in the first half, Centenary used a 10-4 run to help push its advantage to nine (28-19), and a stingy defense contained IPFW to just 1-of-5 shooting during that time. In the last three and a half minutes, the Ladies’ defense allowed the Mastodons to score their final five points from the line.

In the second half, IPFW started heating up, but offensively Centenary was just as hot from the field. The biggest thing for the Ladies was their rebounding, as they grabbed 42, while holding IPFW to just 28.

After the Mastodons got their deficit down to 10 with just eight minutes remaining, Centenary answered back with a 14-3 run to take a 21-point lead. The only field goal for IPFW during that time came with three minutes left in the game.

The Ladies dominated nearly all aspects of the game, scoring 28 points in the paint and nine-second chance opportunities. However, the Mastodons did hold one scoring advantage, points off of turnovers (17).

Senior Karolina Zaloga, meanwhile, led all scorers with 19, while IPFW’s Anne Boese scored 17 points off the bench.

The next action for the Ladies will be on Monday when they try to play bad host to Oakland at 7 p.m. The game can be heard on and 91.3 KSCL in Shreveport/Bossier.
