Ladies and Gents Place Second and Third

TUNICA, Miss. – The Centenary women’s swimming team had seven first place winners, while Gents had 10 top five finishers. The Ladies placed second with 801 points, which was 298 behind Missouri State. The men, meanwhile, ended the two-day event with 757 points and 161 points behind second place Delta State.

The women’s 800-yard freestyle relay team started the day with a first place finish, while Cassie Cloutet also took home first in the 200-yard IM. Natalie Holcomb and Brittany Wilkens each swam to a first place showing in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.  

Cloutet also took first place in the 200-yard IM, 200-yard butterfly and was second in the 400-yard IM. Freshman Maddie Wyatt won the 400-yard IM and Holcomb was the last first place finisher for the Ladies, as she won the 200-yard freestyle.  

The Gents’ top finisher from Miss., was Josh Pena, who was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay and third in the 200-yard IM. John Cefalu, meanwhile, took third in the 100-yard breastroke, while Bryan Myers was third in his event and Devin Ross was third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Centenary also had seven others finish in the top five, led by Anthony LeBlanc, who placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke. Pena was also fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, Ross placed fourth along with Cefalu in their respective events. 

Both teams will be back in action on Friday when Henderson State comes to town for a 3 p.m. meet, it will also be ‘Senior Day’ for seven swimmers.
