SHREVEPORT – If the Centenary women’s basketball team wants to make noise in The Summit League this is the weekend to do it, with a trip to IUPUI (7-9, 2-3) on Saturday and Western Illinois (4-12, 2-3) Monday.

Last week the Ladies went 1-1, and were led by senior Karolina Zaloga, who averaged 14 points a game, while sophomores Ashley Jackson and Anne Farrell each averaged a double-double. Jackson scored 13.5 points and pulled 10 rebounds, while Farrell chipped in with 11 points and 10 boards.

Centenary is 0-10 all-time against both IUPUI and WIU, falling to the Jaguars, 59-45, and 97-45. Against the Westerwinds, meanwhile, the Ladies lost 78-48 in Shreveport and 67-43 in Macomb. In those four games, Farrell led the way with 15.2 points per game, while Jackson and Zaloga followed with 9.5 and 7.2 points a contest respectively.

IUPUI comes into Saturday afternoon’s contest having lost six of its last eight games, with the two Jaguar wins coming over Virginia Tech and Southern Utah. Jernisha Cann leads IUPUI with 17.5 points per game, but has not played in thier last two games. Julia Whitted has picked up the slack by scoring 30 points against North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

Monday’s opponent, Western Illinois has been struggling this season due to the NCAA suspensions of Anneloes Kodde and Jantine Kraak for playing with players on their club teams that received extra benefits. Kodde’s suspension was lifted nine games ago, while Kraak will become eligible on Saturday.

Offensively for the Westernwinds, Amanda Walker leads the way with 10.4 points per game. Defensively, Ashley Lord grabs 6.8 rebounds, while Nicole Myers averages five rebounds per contest.

Both games will be heard on and 91.3 KSCL in Shreveport/Bossier City. Saturday’s pregame show will start at 3:15 p.m. with Monday’s pregame beginning at 6:45 p.m.
