Centenary Tennis Picked 7th and 9th

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Centenary men’s and women’s tennis teams were picked to finish last according The Summit League coaches.

 

Oral Roberts was picked to win, as it received two first place votes, while UMKC was chosen second (31 points), but was voted first by three coach’s. Western Illinois (third 27 points), IPFW (fourth 18 points) and IUPUI (fourth 18 points) were picked to finish in the middle of the pack.

 

Rounding out the conference is South Dakota State (15 points) and Centenary (six points). The Jackrabbits were chosen sixth, while the Gents were picked seventh.  

 

The Gents will be a young team in 2009, welcoming five freshmen to campus. Centenary will also have two veterans on its roster, junior Jacob Dawson and senior Seva Kostelanetz.

 

On the women’s side, ORU (62 points) was chosen first with six first place votes, while IPFW (55 points) received two first place nods. Chosen to be in the middle of the league was Western Illinois (48 points), who was picked third, Southern Utah (43 points) fourth and UMKC (29 points) fifth.

 

Picked at the end of the pack is Oakland (27 points) in sixth place, IUPUI (25 points) in seventh, South Dakota State (23 points) in eighth and Centenary (12 points) was chosen ninth.

 

The Ladies this season have only three student-athletes on their active roster, seniors Kate Buchanan and Courtney Myers, along with sophomore Arielle Schulman.
