SHREVEPORT – Centenary freshman Chelsea Johnson scored 11 points and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds, but Southern Utah shot 43 percent on Monday night to defeat the Ladies 59-37 in Summit League play.

In the first half, Centenary made just four field goals, while SUU converted 44 percent (12-of-27) of its shots, which helped push the Thunderbirds to a 16 point halftime lead. The Ladies were led by sophomore Ashley Jackson, who scored five first period points.

Centenary was also dominated down, as SUU scored 14 points in the paint and the bench helped to score 16 points.

The second half began a little better, as junior Leslie Forest scored the first bucket of the period to bring the game to 14. However, Centenary would go nearly three minutes without another basket, which helped SUU go up by 19.
